Q

Can you state the mechanism of greenhouse effect ( 5 steps)?

A
  1. UV wavelength radiation passes through atmosphere to the earth’s surface
  2. Heats up the earth’s surface
  3. Earth’s surface reflects infrared radiation
  4. C=O bond in CO2 absorbs infrared radiation and re-emits it back to earth.
  5. This energy is transferred to other molecules in the atmosphere by collisions, warming up the atmosphere
