What is the guiding principle of the organisation as machine, political system, organisms and flux and transformation

A

Machine : senior management is responsible
- change must be driven
- Resistance can be managed
- Targets set at the start of the process define the direction

Political system : those in power are responsible for change
- there will be winners and losers
- change requires new coalitions and new negotiations

Organisms : HR/ managers
- there must be participation and involvement and awareness of the need to change
- the change is collaboratively designed
- people need to be supported through change

Flux and transformation : someone with authority to act is in charge
- change cannot be managed it emerges
- conflict and tension give rise to change
- managers are part of the process and highlight gaps and contradictions
