Othello questions Emilia but refuses to believe her, he confronts Desdemona
Desdemona turns to Iago for reassurance and rodgerigo approaches Iago for unfair dealings, Iago reassures them both
What does water symbolise?
Purity and innocence
Connected to trade, symbol of cosmopolitan culture
Free flowing water from the start of the play has become foul trickle, showing how othello and Desdemona’s love has been corrupted
Othello’s attitude towards love has been debased
