Scene opening?
The action moves to Cyrus, where the Venetian forces have successfully repelled the Turkish invasion. Othello and Desdemona arrive and are greeted by Cassio.
Iago?
He continues his scheming.
He causes Cassio to drink, encourages and pressures him. This action creates havoc and friction between the characters.
The initial conflict.
The fight?
Cassio accidently wounds Montano, a former governor of Cyprus. Othello is furious - angered, frustrated, and seething. As a result, Othello demotes Cassio from his position.
Iago’s cunning next steps?
Iago then manipulates Cassio into asking Desdemona for help in regaining Othello’s favour.
Iago, knowing that Othello will misinterpret this, begins to plant the seeds of jealousy in Othello’s mind, suggesting that Desdemona may be unfaithful with Cassio.
