6.1.6.1 Alcohol and Other Drugs

A

Crewmembers shall not be under the adverse effect of alcohol or other drugs, including medication, to an extent so as to impair the proper performance of their duties in any respect, whilst at work, including the intent to carry out flight duties, positioning, ground training, ground duties and reserve duties.

Drug means Psychoactive substances including alcohol, medication, over the counter preparations and illicit drugs but EXCLUDES caffeine and nicotine. (Coffee and Smoke)

Crewmembers, shall NOT consume alcohol or other drugs:

Within 10 hours before the SCHEDULED TAKEOFF of an aircraft to which they have been scheduled, including positioning on the GD.

Within 10 hours of commencing or during Reserve Duty, training or ground based duties during any assigned Flying Duty Periods.

Whilst wearing Company Uniform.

*10 hours is an absolute minimum after consuming small amounts of alcohol (up to 4 units).

4 units is approximately equivalent to 1.5 pint of 4% beer, 250 mL of 14% wine.

When a crew member is positioning as a ticketed passenger in CIVILIAN CLOTHES alcohol may be consumed, when it is certain that the crewmember shall NOT be required for subsequent flying, simulator or training duties.

Alcohol drinks are NOT permitted in the Flight Deck at ANY time for ANY reason.

6.1.8 Deep Underwater Diving

A

Must have completed the normal NON-compression diving MORE THAN 24 hours before the commencement of a Flying Duty Period (Actual Reporting Time) or Standby Duty.

Deeper Dive will require a LONGER recovery period and is ONLY permitted DURING LEAVE.

6.1.9 Blood Donation

A

Crewmembers should NOT volunteer as blood donors whilst actively flying.

May do so MORE THAN 24 hours before the commencement of a Flying Duty Period or Standby Duty.
