Partial Pressures and Volumes Flashcards
(5 cards)
Charles’s Law
Charles’s Law states that at constant pressure, the volume of a gas is directly proportional to its temperature. This means that as the temperature increases, the gas molecules move faster and spread out, causing the volume to expand
Boyle’s Law

Effects of Low Alveolar PAO2
In patients with respiratory diseases, a low alveolar PAO2 (and thus PaO2) can have significant effects:
Reduced oxygen diffusion into the blood
Potential hypoxemia (low blood oxygen levels)
Impaired oxygen delivery to tissues, affecting cellular respiration
These conditions can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and in severe cases, organ dysfunction.
