Q

A complication of ACE inhibitors is angioedema; it also inhibits the metabolism of bradykinin. What is a side effect of this?

A

Bradykinin causes an increase in vessel permeability (causing angioedema- swelling of the tissues) and an unexplainable cough. Bradykinin also causes pain along with PGE2.

Q

By what mechanism do neutrophils travel once they pass the basement membrane?

A

They get directions in a process called chemotaxis. C5a and LT-B4 (leukotriene B4) are chemotactic agents.
