Where does the demyelination occur in MS?

A

CNS, not PNS

-The myelin produced by oligodendrocytes is different than in PNS so the immune cells only target CNS

A

MS - white spots are lesions
Bone = white
Air = black
Fluid = dark gray

A
  • Fatigue
  • Tingling, pain or numbness
  • Problems with balance and walking
  • Changes in vision
  • Depression/emotional changes
  • Impaired thinking/understanding
  • Poor muscle coordination
