What is epiglottitis?

Epiglottitis
- High fever
- Stridor
- Drooling
- Difficulty swallowing
- Severe sore throat
- Sniffing position/tripod
What is meningitis?
Inflammation of the meninges

Meningitis
- Fever
- Cherry spots
- irritability when handled
- pain of flexed or extended neck
- bulging fontanelles
HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS
What is Pertussis?
Whooping cough
Upper airway Bacterial infection, can spread to lungs and cause pneumonia
HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS
What is RSV?
Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Upper airway infection, creating excess mucus secretion. Difficult to expel for pediatrics.
What are some signs of abuse?
What is shaken baby syndrome/SIDS?
Bleeding in the head and damage to c-spine due to intentional, forceful shaking
May appear in full arrest, probably torn vessels in head causing ICP
