What is the origin of the internal pudendal artery?

A

The anterior division of the internal iliac artery in front of the inferior gluteal artery, primary supply of the perineum. Larger in males than in females

What is the course of the internal pudendal artery?

A

Pierces parietal pelvic fascia, passes through GREATER sciatic foramen inferior to piriformis.
It re-enters the pelvis by curving around the ischial spine and sacrospinous ligament and passes through the LESSER sciatic foramen.
It then re-exits through the pudendal canal and then runs in the LATERAL wall of the ischioanal fossa

A

Inferior rectal
Perineal branch- splits into posterior scrotal and transverse perineal
After this it is known as the common penile artery which has 3 branches
