Name and define the 3 types of training
- Induction training - New employees are introduced to the business when they begin the job
- On the job - Training takes place at the business. Usually carried out by experienced staff.
- Off the job - Employees train away from the company. Usually carried out by an expert
- Give 4 examples of on-the-job training
- Describe each one
Work-shadowing - New employee observes experienced employee
Apprenticeship - Apprentice trains in the workplace for part of the week whilst training off the job
Coaching - Trainer trains trainee step by step, helping them along the way
Job rotation - Trainee does tasks in several departments and can learn many skills

ADVANTAGES
* Specific → Suits business’s needs
* Nothing to pay for → Cheaper
* Work isn’t interrupted by staff attending courses outside the office
DISADVANTAGES
* Not led by experts → Lower quality of training
* Employees may pick up bad habits from other workers
* Work interruptions → lower concentration

* Experienced employees may have to tour new employees → Time-consuming for the employees

* No workplace distractions → Higher concentration
