Carnegie and Henry Frick cut wages at a now uneeded steel industry. In strike workers forced stikebreakers out of their town as a temporary success, but the state government sent in troops that sent them back to low wage work

Pullman Strike of 1894 A car company hosted it's employers in a town for rent. Soon they cut wages and rent stayed high. They convinced the employees of this company to stop working. 27 states and thousands of employers did so. The federal government eventually sent in the militia and they failed.
