Q

Platelet plug formation/ 1° hemostasis

A
  1. Endothelial injury : endothelin: vasoconstriction
  2. Exposure: vWF (Weibel-Palade bodies & a-granules) exposed to collagen
  3. Adhesion: vWF (GpIb) + platelet = latelet release Ca2+ & ADP (coag cascade) & TXA2
  4. Activation: ADP adheres platelet to endoth + induction on GpIIb/IIIa on surface, via P2Y12 receptor
  5. Aggregation: Fibrinogen + platelet

Temp platelet plug, stops bleeding : unstable :: coag cascade 2° hemostasis
