- Something is the same thing at two different points in time if at both points it is the same material substance
-Humans are the same person if they have the same body

The physical continuity view seems to say that at a certain point, the person is not the same person, because they are different physical material

- It seems unclear at what point in the cell replacement someone stops being the same person
-It also seems unclear how we would know it is a different person

In humans, cells are constantly being replaced and shed. Are you the same person you were at 10 year old?

Most people would say yes, but we are not the same physical material
