  • Genetics
  • Sun/UV exposure
  • Hormones/Pregnancy
  • Photosensitizing meds & Anticonvulsants

What is Vitiligo?
What’s it associated with?

A
  • Chronic dis-pigmentation disorder that results in white spots d/t loss of melanocytes
  • Associated with AI conditions like Hashimotos

How do you treat Melasma?

A

COSMETIC
- Avoid sun
- Hydroquinone cream-bleaching agent
- Chemical peel like Glycolic Acid

How do you treat Vitiligo?

A
  • Stabilization therapy like oral steroids, IM steroids +/-NBUVB (targeted light therapy)
  • 1st line for <10%TBSA = mid-high potency topical steroids (pulse therapy is recommended)
