What is a plain?
A nearly, extensive stretch of land
Where can plains be found?
Coast or inland
What is the most populated plain?
Indo-Gangetic plain
Give an example of a grassland.

What are tundras?
Frozen plains that have vegetation and some of it is able to bear cold which might have special type of mosses or shrubs
What is a river system made up of?
Source, stream, tributaries, distributaries, and mouth
What is a river source?
Place where river begins its flow
What are tributaries?
The smaller streams that join the main river
What are distributaries?
Smaller channels that are formed after some rivers break up
What ends a river system?
Drainage basin
What is a drainage basin?
Area of land drained by river and its tributaries
What is a river course?
Path taken by river as it flows from the river source to the river mouth
Name features of the upper course
steep gradient of land, small volume of water and rough river bed
Name features of the middle course
gentle gradient of land, large volume of water and less rough river bed
Name features of the lower course
very gentle gradient of land, largest volume of water and smooth river bed
What is abrasion
mechanical scraping of rock surface in river channel
What is hydraulic action?
powerful force of water that surges into cracks and break down river bed
What is solution?
action of minerals dissolving and being carried away as solution
What is attrition?
collision of rocks that makes them break up into smaller fragments
What is traction?
river load rolls and slides along river bed
What is saltation?
refers to way river load hop and bounce along river bed
What is suspension?
refers to way small particles are carried along river bed
