Order of tissues in the root?
A
- root hair cells, epidermis, cortex, endodermis, vascular.

What is different about xylem walls?
A
- Lignified, thicker, bordered pits, end walls removed.

What is the cambium?
A
- Found near vascular bundles.
- Mitosis occurs from cambium to produce new cells for growth.
- These cells differentiate into xylem and phloem.

Why is lignin beneficial?
A
- prevents water loss/waterproofing
- provides structural support to the stem/plant
