INDICATION
(1) all adults age 65 years and older
(2) age 2-64 w/ any of the following conditions:
(a) cigarette smokers age 19 and older
(b) chronic CV disease
(c) chronic pulmonary disease (COPD, emphysema, asthma for 19 and older)
(d) diabetes
(e) alcoholism
(f) chronic liver disease, cirrhosis
(g) recipient or candidate for cochlear implant
(h) CSF leak
(i) functional or anatomic asplenia (sickle cell disease, splenectomy)
(j) immunocompromised conditions
(k) organ transplantation
(l) chronic renal failure or nephrotic syndrome

0.5 mL
OF DOSES

FREQUENCY
(1) 1 dose at least 8 weeks after final dose of PCV13 to high-risk children age 2 years and older
(2) 1 dose at age 65 years and older if unvaccinated or if previous history unknown
(3) 1 time revaccination to people:
(a) 65 years and older if 1st dose was given prior to age 65 and if 5 years have elapsed since 1st dose
(b) 19-64 years who are at highest risk of fatal pneumococcal infection or rapid antibody loss and if 5 years have elapsed since 1st dose
CONTRAINDICATIONS
severe allergic rxn after a previous dose or to a vaccine component
PRECAUTIONS
(1) moderate or severe acute illness w/ or w/out fever
(2) use caution and appropriate care for individuals w/ severely compromised CV and/or pulmonary function in whom a system rxn would pose a significant risk
ADVERSE REACTIONS
injection site pain/ soreness/ tenderness/ swelling/ induration/ erythema, fatigue, myalgia, headache
