Q

Natural pollutants

A

A natural pollutant is a pollutant created by
substances of natural origin such as volcanic
dust, sea salt particles, photochemically
formed ozone, and products of forest fibres, among others.

Q

Anthropogenic air pollutants

A

Air pollution consists of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. It also damages buildings. Pollutants in the air take many forms. They can be gases, solid particles, or liquid droplets.

Pollution enters the Earth’s atmosphere in many different ways. Most air pollution is created by people, taking the form of emissions from factories, cars, planes, or aerosol cans. Second-hand cigarette smoke is also considered air pollution. These man-made sources of pollution are called anthropogenic sources.

Q

Effects of pollution

A

Pollution may muddy landscapes

Poison soils and waterways

Kill plants and animals

Humans are also regularly harmed by pollution. Long-term exposure to air pollution, for
example, can lead to chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer and other diseases.

Q

the impact of air pollution on human’s health

A

High amounts of air pollution can have a number of negative health consequences. Respiratory infections, heart problems, and lung cancer are all increased by it. Short and long-term exposure to air pollution has been linked to negative health outcomes. People who are already sick are connected to more severe consequences. People react differently to different types of air pollution. Young children and older adults, whose immune systems tend to be weaker, are often more sensitive to pollution.

Q

Suggest and justify one recommendation to your government to help reduce pollution of the environment.

A

One recommendation I have to help reduce pollution is to replace gas cars with electric cars. Gas cars emit toxic fumes that go into the atmosphere resulting in air pollution. But with electric cars they emit fewer greenhouse gases and air pollutants than petrol or diesel cars. And this takes into account their production and electricity generation to keep them running. Electric cars give us clean streets making our towns and cities a better place to be for pedestrians and cyclists. That would be my recommendation to the government.
