What are post modernist theory?
They argue Marxists idea is outdated. Claim society entered a new phase and diff from past. That argue class division is no longer important and society is more fragmented & diverse. Believe economy shifted from assembly line mass production (fordist system) and now flexible specialisation (post fordist) which requires skilled, adaptable workforce that use advanced technology and transfer their skills from one specialised task to another.
What is postmodernist view on education?
Argue post fordist need diff education system, instead of preparing low skilled, paid and obedient to creative, self motivation and supervision. So education has become more diverse and responsive to the needs of changed economy. Believe correspondence principles no longer operate.
Evaluate post modernist view on education.
Marxists critique that the changes generated by post fordism result in low paid workers being exploited more and still prepares the majority of pupils to defer to authority
