Laser printer
When printing a document, the laser beam creates an image on the electrostatically charged drum, which attracts toner and then is transferred to the paper fused by heat, resulting in a crisp printout.
3 advantages of laser printer
- Faster Printing - print all pages super fast.
- Sharp, clear text - ideal for small fonts or fine details.
- Cost-effective - The ink (toner) lasts a really long time, so you don’t have to buy new ones as often.
3 disadvantages of laser printer
- More expensive.
- Internal parts need cleaning/replacement.
- They’re not best for printing colorful pictures.
- Can cause paper jams
Inkjet printer
- Uses small droplets of ink for image creation.
- Spray tiny droplets of ink on to paper through a series of nozzles.
- Ink stored in small cartridges for easy replacement.
- Produces vivid, detailed images compared to laser printers.
3 advantages of inkjet
- They can print super colorful pictures that look real.
- Affordable for home/office use.
- Prints on paper, fabrics, card, stickers, labels.
3 disadvantages of inkjet
- Expensive cartridges
- Slow speed, especially high-quality.
- Dried ink easily clogs small nozzles.
- Requires frequent cleaning.
Thermal Printer
Uses heat to create prints, either by transferring ink from a ribbon or by heating special paper.
Includes direct thermal (heat-sensitive paper) and thermal transfer (uses ribbons).
Usage: used for printing receipts and labels.
ADV of Thermal Printer
Reliable, low maintenance, ideal for receipts and labels.
Disadv of Thermal Printer
Direct thermal prints may fade and are sensitive to heat/light.
Thermal transfer requires ribbon changes.
