Schedule
Organisational or Operational

3

A diagram that shows tasks with their start and completion date?

Gantt Chart

6

What are the four conversion methods?

DirectParallel
Phased
Pilot

7

List the two types of listening techniques when communicating?

Active listening and conflict listening.

8

The symbol used as a process for both context and data-flow diagrams.

A circle

9

Describe a Decision Tree

Represents all possible combinations of decisions and their resulting actions in the form of a tree branching out to the right.

10

Contains a comprehensive description of each field in a database.

Data Dictionary

11

A process that checks the solution to ensure that it works

Testing

12

Modification of the system by making minor improvements

Maintenance

13

What is an operation manual?

It details procedures participants should follow when using a new system.

14

At the beginning of any project, what must be developed.

This can be regarded as a blueprint for how the project will be carried out.

Project Plan or Project Management Plan

15

A person who performs the analysis to decide whether a new or updated system will solve the problem.

Systems Analyst

16

Responsible for the technical design of the software and writing of programs.

Computer Programmer

17

Interacts with the system in order to supply or retrieve processed data from it.

Participant

18

People who assist participants of a system on an as-needed basis.

Technical Support Staff

19

The role of this person is to input data into the system

Data Entry Operator

20

What is the role of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO)?

A CEO is the person in charge of the organisation which runs the system. They have the ultimate responsibility for everything that happens within the organisation.

A major part of negotiation skills is to understand the point of view of the other party, yet not completely concede your own position. A successful negotiator will generally achieve consensus of both parties around a middle ground.

Once the feasibility study is completed, a short report is produced on potential solutions.

What are the three recommendations the solution can offer?

No change to existing systemReplace the existing system
Investigate further or other possible solutions

24

Involves the immediate change to the new system on a chosen date.

Direct Conversion

25

Involves the old and new systems both working together at the same time.

Parallel Conversion

26

Involves the gradual implementation of the new system.

Phased Conversion

27

Involves trialing the new system in a small portion of the organisation.

Pilot Conversion

28

Describe the Testing stage.

Testing is the process of checking the solution to ensures that it works.

Testing is constantly carried out throughout the system development cycle.

29

Describe what happens in Evaluation

Evaluation is where the participants monitor the performance of the system and take note of any inconsistency in the operation of the system, or where things aren't working the way they are supposed to.

30

Describe Conflict Listening

Method of resolving arguments and disputes by using the processes of negotiation, active listening and mediation.
It encourages the conflicting parties to find common ground and agree to compromise rather than maintaining unworkable positions
