Withdrawal rights
Having the right to withdrawal from an experiment at any time without consequence.
Informed consent
Getting written consent from participants and informing them of the nature of the experiment
Confidentiality
Participants privacy
Debriefing
Participants are informed of the true purpose at the end of the experiment.
Deception
Not fully informing participants of the experiment because it may altar their behaviour and the outcome.
Voluntary participation
Participants agree to take part in an experiment free from pressure and consequence.
Pseudoscience
A fake/false science (not based on empirical evidence) eg astrology, phrenology, numerology, palmistry.

A perspective of psychology that uses principles of biology and evidence from the body to study mental processes and behaviour.
Cognitive perspective
A perspective of psychology that is interested in investigating internal mental processes, thoughts and memories.
Behavioural perspective
A perspective of psychology that explains human behaviour through studying observable actions.
Overt behaviour- actions that are observable and visible to other (running)
Covert behaviour- actions that are hidden and represented internally (thinking about life)
Socio-cultural
A perspective of psychology that seeks to investigate how an individuals behaviour is influenced by others.
Barnum effect
Tendency to consider personal descriptions to be accurate when stated in general terms.
