infant realies that survival and comfort needs will be met

Autonomy vs Doubt
2-4 yrs old
child realizes they can control bodil functions ; self controlled will is integrated
Erikson Stage 3
Initiative vs Guilt
Elementary age
child gains social skills and gender role identity
sense of purpose is gained
Erikson Stage 4
Industry vs Inferiority
Middle school age
child gains sense of security through peers and gains mastery over activitiies of their age group

Self identity vs role confusion
adolescence
teen begins to make choises about adult roles, with the resolution of this identity crisis a sense of fidelity is gained

Intimacy vs Isolation
Young adult
establishes intimate relationships with family and partner
Erikson stage 7
Generativity vs self-absorption
Middle adulthood
adult finds security in contribution of their chosen personal/professional roles

Integrity vs Despair
Older adulthood
reflects on own values and is shared with the younger generation
Maslow heirarchy of needs
If lower levels are not met then individual can’t work on high levels
