How many engine fire protection loops are there for each engine ?
2 loops covering 3 zones
1 leading edge zone
2 main wheel well zone
3 Primary Engine zone
What areas does Loop B cover ?
L/R Main Wheel well
How many engine fire bottles are there ?
2
what is the indication if a fire bottle has thermally vented ?
BTL LOW advisory light
What is the indication of a fault of an engine fire loop?
FAULT A or B advisory light for the appropriate side
What are the cockpit indications for a fire ? (3)
1-ENGINE FIRE
MASTER WARNING
2-CHECK FIRE DET
3-PULL FUE/HYD handle lights
Where is the lavatory fire bottle ?
above the garbage disposal
How does the lavatory fire bottle operate ?
intense heat will melt the discharge plugs
What are the indications of a lavatory fire ?
Lavatory smoke detector tone
detector alarm
LAV SMOKE light
cabin chime
How many portable fire extinguishers are there on board ?
4
What are the indications of an aft baggage compartment fire ?
Smoke light master
warning and fire bottle low
How many baggage compartment fire bottle are there ?
3
1 slow release
2 fast release
how do the baggage compartments fire bottle discharge ?
One in high rate
One in low rate
How many smoke detectors are on the plane ?
4
2-in the aft baggage compartment
1- in the forward baggage compartment
1- in the lavatory
What does an illumination of either engine FAULT A or FAULT B on the fire protection control panel indicate ?
A fault detected within the loop detector circuit.
What do the BOTTLE ARMING LIGHTS indicate ?
When the T handle is pulled system is armed. ( Amber )
When either bottle is discharged lights go out.
What are the indications on the HYD and FUEL valve indicators on the fire protection panel.
Green - open
White - closed.
What does the red light on the AFT SMOKE DETECTION light on the fire protection panel ?
Smoke is detected in the aft baggage compartment
What is an APD ?
Advance Pneumatic Detectors or fire loop.
How do the ADP’s work ?
They are sensor tubes filled with helium that are sensitive to changes in temperature.
a fault accurs when theres a leak in the tubes, then you get the fault loop light
What’s the indication if there’s a break in the ADP?
This causes a FAULT in either A or B light on the fire protection panel.
What controls the detection and signalling of the warning when there’s a fire ?
controller amplifier
How does the fire extinguishing work after a fire is detected and confirmed ?
Pulling the T-handle on the effected engine arms the bottle.
To extinguish the bottle, select the EXTG switch to either FWD or AFT.
