Quiz 2 Flashcards
(7 cards)
How do molecules in the secretory process move?
Micro tubule tracks
Secretory Process
Rough ER -> Transport vesicles -> Golgi body (modifies molecules) -> secretory vesicle -> plasma membrane
Protein structure
Composed of amino acids, formed by peptide bonds
What is a mammalian cell membrane composed of?
Phospholipids, protein, carbohydrates, cholesterol
What are the properties of a receptor?
Bind to a ligand (primary chemical messenger). Specificity, saturation affinity, competition, modulation
What is an enzyme?
Proteins that catalyze biological reactions, but are not consumed or altered by the reaction
Types of junctions
Tight junctions - barrier
Desmosomes - cell contact, adhesion
Gap junctions - small pores, connect cells
