FCV-110A/B & FCV-111A/B are DC solenoid-operated valves that share a power supply, where does this power come from? Additionally, each of these valves fail close on a loss of power or air with the exception of one. Which valve is this exception and why?
FCV-110A/B & FCV-111A/B are powered from uED1-1
FCV-110A is the exception, it fails open. This is to ensure a boric acid flowpath is available following a loss of power.
In the event of an emergency, there exist four emergency boration flowpaths. What are these flowpaths called and what are their credited flow rates?
Emergency Boration:
- Through u-8104: 75 gpm
Manual Emergency Boration
- Through uCS-8439: 36 gpm
Alternate Emergency Boration:
- Through FCV-110B & FCV-111B: 27 gpm
Gravity Feed Emergency Boration:
- Through u-8507 & u-8509: No restriction
