Summarise the threat caused by Perkin Warbeck.

A

Perkin Warbeck pretended to be the Duke of York and was a constant irritant to Henry. He was able to attract patronage from foreign rulers who made him a more serious threat. It demonstrated how fragile his position was.

Summarise the conflict cause by Simnel and the Earl of Lincon.

A

Lambert Simnel and the Earl of Lincon also provided a threat, however Henry had sufficient warning Simnel was being passed as the Earl of Warrick and so had the real Earl of Warrick exhibited. When they persuaded Margaret of Burgundy to pay for a force of mercenaries to invade England, Henry took a gamble to neutralise Richard’s old power base, by reinstating the untrustworthy Earl of Northumberland.

Summarise the Lovell and Stafford rebellion.

A

The rebellion was led by Viscount Lovell and Humphrey Stafford was minor, as they failed to gain enough support from other Yorkists, even though it was based in Richard III’s heartland.
