What were the Radical Republicans?
A political faction that was against slavery.
What was the significance of Plessy vs. Ferguson?
It legalized racial segregation.
What were Jim Crow Laws?
Laws that enforced racial segregation in public and private spaces.
What was the 10% Plan?
A Reconstruction plan proposed by President Lincoln requiring at least 10% of voters in the South to take an oath of allegiance to the Union.
What was the Freedmen’s Bureau?
An Act to help the freedmen and poor whites in the South.
What is sharecropping?
An agricultural system popular in the post-Civil War South that often trapped sharecroppers in debts and poverty.
What does the 13th Amendment state?
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude shall exist within the United States.
What does the 14th Amendment grant?
Citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States.
What did the 15th Amendment accomplish?
Granted African American men the right to vote.
