Ace inhibitors
reduce production of angiotensin II which causes vasoconstriction
Side effects- dizziness, reduction of kidney
Calcium channel blockers
for muscle contraction, calcium must ass through channgels into muscle cells
Reduces calcium, blood vessels don’t constrict lowering BP
Side effects - dizziness, headaches, swollen ankles, abnormal heart beat
Diuretics
Increase urine volume so rids of fluid
Decreases blood plasma volume and cardiac output
Lightheaded, dizziness, little salt, nausea
Reducing cholesterol levels
Statins- inhibit enzyme that produces LDL by liver
Headache, vomit
Warafin
Interferes with Vit K
High bleeding
Aspirin
Reduces stickiness of platelets, risk of bleeding
Anticoagulants
Reduce formation of blood clots
Platelet inhibitory drugs
Reduce formation of blood clots as they reduce stickiness
