Q

what are the learning outcomes?

A

1) makes observations of the effects of the interaction of electectromagnetic waves (light) with matter.
2) use appropriate equipment to measure the angles incidence reflection and refraction for a ray of light incident on glass block.
3) compare the difference in the interaction of light with two blocks made with different materials.

Q

what are the simplified instructions?

A

draw a cross on some paper and place the box touching but just under the mid line. draw a box around that.
set up the ray box and place a slit lens so that the light ray is narrow.
angle it towards where the box reaches the line and draw a cross from the point it enters, where its refracted and where it reflected and join the crosses.
do this again but repeat at different angles.
use a protractor to measure angle between the incident ray and normal- angle incidence.
the angle between the reflected ray and normal- angle of reflection.
the angle between ray inside the block and the normal- angle of refraction.
do this again but on a separate piece of paper with a different block.
