reflex arc Flashcards
(6 cards)
relay neurone
transmits electrical impulses form a neurone to another
middle neurone i spinalcord
motor neurone
transmits electrical impulses from CNS to effector
sensory neurone
transmits electrical impulses from receptors to the CNS
function of a reflex arc
-a process that occurs in response to danger
-which bypasses through the brain
-allowing quick reactions to
-to protect body from harm
how painkillers reduce pain
prevent neurotransmitters binding to receptors in the next neurone
paragraph of reflex arc summary
receptors in the skin detect the stimulus an electrical impulse travels through sensory neurone to the spinal cord (the relay neurone). electrical impulses go from the dendron to the axon connecting to the next neurone through dendrites (claw thing) and eventually to the effector( the muscle) which will initiate the response in order to reflect what caused the initial trigger
