What is a superpower?
A state that possesses the ability to protect major power across the globe, across military, economic, political and cultural dimensions.
What is regionalism?
The creation and implementation of institutions that express a particular identity and shape collective action within a geographical region
What is the European Union?
Political-economic union of 27 member states located in Europe
What is sovereignty
Absolute and unlimited power
What is economic regionalism?
Focuses on the financial and trade aspects of regional co-operation. These types of regional organisation are trade blocks of one type or another.
What is security regionalism?
Involves regional organisations trying to achieve peace and security through on of two methods. Some aim to achieve stability within the group through interderdependence, making war impossible due to closeness of each state. Others seek to achieve peace through binding member states against a common enemy.
What is political regionalism?
When states that share the same values seek to portect them
What is supranationalism?
When a large amount of power given to an authority, which in theory, is placed higher than the state
