Regulators Flashcards
(28 cards)
Regulators reduce pressures from what?
Pounds to pounds
Pounds to inches
Inches to inches
Pounds to pounds does what?
Reduce high pressure to distribution
Pounds to pounds reduces from distribution pressure to elevate Les delivery pressure which is blank
2 psig
Pounds to inches does what?
Reduce distribution pressure to standard delivery pressure which is 7.0” water column
Inches to inches does what ?
Reduce standard delivery pressure to lower pressure for appliances
What are 3 essentials elements of a regulator ?
1- restricting orifice
2- measuring diaphragm
3- loading spring
Downstream is the blank side
Outlet
Upstream is the blank side
Inlet
Turn adjusting screw blank to increase pressure
Clockwise
Turn adjusting screw blank to decrease pressure
Counterclockwise
Standard delivery pressure is what?
7” water column
What does lock up mean ?
No gas usage downstream
Pressure builds up underneath the diagram
Pressure overcomes the spring tension
Closes the valve and stops the flow of gas
What is the purpose of the regulator vent ?
The vent ensures the diaphragm can move freely during normal operation by allowing the regulator to breath
What does irv mean
Internal relief valve
What is the purpose of a irv
To provide over pressure protection on the house line by relieving access pressure from under the diaphragm
What are the regulator vent requirements
-Vent must terminate downward
-must have screen in place to prevent insect/debris from plugging up vent
What are the service regulator vent requirements in California in Nevada?
Must have a minimum of 18 inches separation from any open into any building open flame device
What are the service regulator event require requirements for California Nevada?
Must have a minimum of 3 feet of separation from any mechanical or forced air intake so I’m cooler
This may be done by extending the regulator vent
What is the Arizona requirement for service regulator vent?
Minimum of 3 foot separation from any source of ignition, open flame, mechanical or forced intake or opening into any billing
High pressure is identified by what for a one three-quarter band
61 to 25 PSIG
High pressure is identified by two three-quarter bands for what
Over 125 PSIG
What does HPR mean
High pressure regulator
What are requirements for an HPR?
Pounds to pounds outlet pressure set at 35PSIG
What does PLV mean?
Pressure limiting valve
