Relationships in an ecosystem Flashcards
(5 cards)
What are predator prey interactions?
The more pray available, the more food to feed the predators. If there is not much pray around, the predators have nothing to eat and there numbers will decrease.
What is commensalism?
Two organisms share a relationship with one another. One organism will benefit, The other organism gains nothing but is not harmed.
What is an example of commensalism?
golden jackals that are no longer in a pack will trail a tiger so It can feed on what the tiger kills, once the tiger has its fill it comes to eat the leftovers, the tiger is unaffected.
What is mutualism?
Both of the organisms in this relationship benefit, A sea anemone makes an ideal home for a clownfish. Its poisonous tentacles provide protection from predators and a clownfish makes its meals from the anemone’s leftovers.
What is parasitism?
One organism benefits at the expense of the other organism, Find their host and feed on the hosts blood, as it does this it injects a toxin which can lead to paralysis and is some cases death of the host.
