Type 1

Hypokalemic Distal

Defect in urine acidification in the distal tubule with impaired excretion of hydrogen

unable to acidify their urine below a pH of 6.0

hypocitrauria leads to CaPO4 stones and nephrocalinosis.

Treat with potassium citrate

Proximal

NAGMA

Normal or negative urine AG

Hyperkalemic Distal

Positive urine AG

Fanconi Syndrome

Type 2 RTA with urine loss of bicarbonate as well as phosphate/glucose/amino acids/protein.
