What does a cadet do if the door is shut when reporting in?
knock once firmly on the door
What does a cadet do if the door is open when reporting in?
knock once firmly on the door frame
What if no one responds to the first knock?
wait 10 seconds, then knock once more
What should the cadet do after being told to “enter”?
enter, and close the door without turning around (unless told otherwise)
How far should the cadet stand from the officer when reporting in?
- two paces from the officer
OR - one pace in front of the chair
Are facing movements performed when on carpet?
No
What should the cadet say when reporting in?
“Sir/Ma’am, Cadet Bipes reports as ordered”
How should the cadet stand and look when reporting in?
- at attention
- eyes 15 degrees above the horizon
- render a proper salute
What happens after the officer returns the salute?
The officer may say “be seated,” and the cadet sits at the position of attention
If not told to report and cadet initiates the meeting, what is said?
“Sir/Ma’am, Cadet Bipes reports”
When should a cadet ask “Will that be all?” during the meeting?
when they sense a lull or natural end in the meeting
What are the steps for reporting out?
- Stand at attention
- Take one step to the side, then one step back
- Render a salute
- Say “Good [time of day], (rank and name)”
- Wait for return salute and greeting
- Drop salute and exit via the most direct route
What if the door was shut when leaving?
Open and shut the door after exiting unless told otherwise
