Responses And Adaptations Cardio Vascualr Sytem L7 Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is the main purpose of our body’s response to exercise?
To get more oxygen to the working muscles
How does are body detect change in response to exercise ?
Chemo receptors detect chemical change co2 ⬆️. O2⬇️
What are the three control centres in the medulla ?
Respiratory control centre
Cardiac control centre
Vaso motor centre
What are the three responses to exercise?
Respiratory response
Cardio vascular response
Blood vessel response to exercise
Respiratory response to exercise
(⬆️ depth breathing)
⬆️Increase in depth of breathing/ increase in tidal volume.
Diagram contracts with more force
External intercostal muscles contract with more force to lift the ribs higher
Respiritory response to exercise
(⬆️ breathing rate)
Recurs abdominals and internal intercostals pull the ribs down to increase breathing rate.
Cardio vascular response to exercise
(⬆️ increase heart rate)
Cardiac control centre sends impulse to cardiac accelerator ➡️ the sa node which fires faster impulse
Cardiac vascular response to exercise (⬆️ stroke volume)
Venus return increases - heart stretches (fills with more blood) (starlings law)
Increase in cardiac output
increase in blood pressure in the arterioles because of increase stroke volume
Blood vessel response to exercise
(Vascular shunt)
Vasoconstriction of the arterioles supplying the digestive system.
Reduces blood flow and it is redirected.
Blood vessel response to exercise
(Vasodilation)
⬆️Increases blood flow to the skin and the muscles.
Skin releases heat via radiation.
Muscles- vasodilation of the arterioles increases blood and oxygen delivery to the muscles.
Muscular system
⬆️ more blood to the muscles ➡️ more oxygen.
Muscles use this to respire to produce energy. They also produce heat.
⬆️Pliable ⬇️ risk of injury ➕⬆️ range of moment
