What does social support mean?
Presence of others can help you resist social influence

-when they saw others dissent they were more likely to too
- milgrams stufy
- disobedient confederate reduced conformitu
There is low ecological validity to the research why is this a problem?
Lab studies (Asch/Milgram) may not reflect real-life resistance.
Ethical issues also limit applicability.

-more likely to resist in milgrams tasks
Is there cultural bias?
- Individualistic vs collectivist cultures: social support and LOC may not apply equally.
- Resistance explanations may not generalise across cultures.
