This is a program to ensure staff are trained skilled and accredited to conduct the highest quality of investigations.
Explain the duties of a Senior Investigating Officer…
they direct crimes that fall into the ‘major’ crime category
they have to VISIT THE SCENE.
they have t make sure that the scene is SECURE.
ASSESSMENTS have to be made.
any WITNESSES must be spoken to.
they have to carry out a H&S ASSESSMENT.
they have to make sure that the MEDIA is dealt with.

What should a CSM do?
They act as a liason between SOCO at the scene and the SIO and other experts. They should attend AL meetings.
What is an Exhibits Officer?
They are responsible to ensure and maintain integrity and continuity of each item of evidence from the moment that it is recovered throughout it’s life until it is presented in court and serves no more evidential value. .
What is a CSC?
They act as an additional advisor to the SIO and provide links between all of the dfferent scenes and their CSM and ensures all evidence is dealt with efficiently and effectively.
How many cordons are there, and what are they called?
The inner cordon and outer cordon
