Section 114

A

Stopping Vehicles and Demanding Details. Remain stopped for as long as reasonably necessary

  • Only from driver

Officer must be in uniform or if in plain clothes driving a vehicle with lights and sirens

And demand that driver states

  • full name, address, DOB
  • owner of car or not
  • name and address of owner of the vehicle or other particulars within the driver’s knowledge to lead to identification of the owner

A

Banning Vehicles from the Road

  • Fails to comply with regulations or rules (GREEN STICKER) UNSAFE
    e. g. WOF failures, exhaust, windows, cracked windscreen
  • Not in a safe condition to be driven on a road (PINK STICKER) DEFECTIVE
    e. g. illegal modifications or structural rust

Can have conditions about driving vehicle to a specified place for repair

Always sticker passenger vehicles bus, taxis etc when in vehicle crash (green)

Obtaining information

Give all information within 14 days for identification and apprehension of

  • driver alleged to have committed any offence against any act
    or
  • passenger has committed, aided or avoided arrest through use of a vehicle

If a fleeing vehicle, information must be given immediately
