if measuring size- take many measurments

6) count number of graticule divisions in a set measurement on a stage micrometer
7) divide micrometer by graticule to get 1 graticule

1) HCl makes cells/membrane more permeable so that stain can enter and stain bases on chromosomes- heated to increase rate of reaction
2) stain- mark bases on chromosomes so that mitosis can be observed
