What is pro-environmental behaviour?

A

behaviour that harms the env as little as possible, or even benefits the environment - behaviour that is beneficial for the environment, but not necessarily motivated by environmental goals

behaviour that consciously seeks to minimise the negative impact of ones actions on the natural and built world - a goal directed behaviour - behaviours that people adopt w the explicit goal of doing something beneficial for the environment

What is the carbon footprint?

A

the total amount of greenhouse gases (eg carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions

CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent)
the average carbon footprint for a person in the uk is 11.7 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) per year

to have the best chance of avoiding a 2 degree rise in global temperatures, the average carbon footprint per year needs to drop to under 2 tonnes by 2050
