SCEs Flashcards
(11 cards)
What does SCE stand for?
Shared Computing Enclosure
How many SCEs are there?
2
What is inside an SCE?
Blade centre servers
Network fabric switches
Backbone switches
SANs
How is processing done in an SCE?
Virtual Machines run each sub-system
Why are there 2 SCEs?
Redundancy
Explain the redundancy of SCEs
The hardware is physically separated and powered from different ship supplies (except chilled water).
Software functions are allocated between the SCEs and automatically recover if an SCE is lost
What tactical applications are implemented on the SCE?
- Command System
- Sonar 2076
- Navigation
- Network Common Functions
How is chilled water managed on an SCE?
The Constaflo valve is mounted on the rear of each SCE and controls the flow
What happens to the internal components of an SCE following a loss of chilled water?
Temperature will rise
Blade servers will not automatically shutdown
How do you know that temperature is too high in an SCE?
Overhear alarm
SDD/MFC health strip
What must be done in the event of SCEs overheating?
Dogflaps must be opened to increase cooling
Unnecessary apps can be shutdown (assert single ASC) to reduce processing load
