“Set of rules to help us make decision about movement patterns”

  • Recall Schema starts the mov. and uses initial conditions and asks where am I? Eg. Where the player is in relation to the hole in golf
    Response specification which asks what have I got to do? Eg. Player needs to shoot a goal or get closer to the goal in football.
  • Recognition schema controls and evaluates mov. and uses sensory consequences which ask what does it feel like? Eg. Badminton player needs to think if mov was fluent/ hard/smooth.
    Then response outcome which asks what happened as result? eg. Badminton player needs to make sure if the coat went over the net.

  • Varying practice conditions in order to develop performer’s performance
  • Change initial conditions to ensure that correct technique was learned and eliminate any bad habits
  • Ensure practice is in specific or competitive situation to stimulate selective attention ( block irrelevant info)
  • Provide lots of accurate feedback to eliminate any concerns and reduce the appearance of negative transfer.
