Q

What does the LOP Model of Memory suggest

A
  • it suggest that there are no separate memory store
  • instead one storage area where memories are encoded by different levels of processing
  • the deeper the level of processing at the time of encoding, the easier the retrieval

Q

Structural LOP Model of Memory

A
  • the words are learnt by physical features
  • LOP –> shallow
  • thus, 20% of words are retrieved using structural encoding

Q

Phonemic LOP Model of Memory

A
  • words are learnt by sound
  • LOP –> moderate
  • thus, 50% of words are retrieved using phonemic encoding

Q

Semantic LOP Model of Memory

A
  • words are encoded by their meaning
  • allows them to be placed directly into semantic networks
  • LOP –> deep
  • thus, 80% of words are retrieved after semantic encoding
