Affects more females than males- anogenital or axillary involvement- predisposing factors plus genetics.

Excessive sweating beginning in childhood, commonly family history. Affects palms, axilla, forehead, feet

Excessive sweating for 6 months or more without apparent cause- bilateral, affects ADLs at least 1 per week, onset before age 25

3 stages- flushing to temperature, spicy food, emotions-. persistent erythema, telangiectasias, papules & pustules-> deep erythema, nodules.

Topical metronidazole or systemic minocycline
Perioral dermatitis- Eti
Unknown- aggravated by topical corticosteroids. Affects teens to mid ages

1-2 mm erythematous papulopustules with erythematous background- central confluence with satellites. perioral, nasiolabial and periorbital

Metronidazole or minocycline
Acne vulgaris- Eti
Affects 85% population- more severe in males, begins at puberty to 3-4th decade

Comedones- open or closed papules and papulopustules. Inflammatory

Culture if necessary, otherwise clinical

Topical clinda and erythro, bezoyl peroxide- oral minocycline if moderate to severe
Acne conglobata- Eti
Severe cystic acne on trunk. Coalescing nodules, cysts abscesses and ulcers

Isotretinoin- retinoid which inhibits sebaceous gland function
Epidermal inclusion cysts- Eti
Cutaneous cyst arising from hair follicle- face, trunk & scrotum in young to mid-aged adults
Epidermal inclusion cysts - Sx
Thin cyst wall with cheese like discharge when squeezed. Becomes inflamed rather than infected. Overlying comedone or punctum
Epidermal inclusion cysts - Tx
No abx- sterile. Surgical removal of cyst sac.
