Section 5: Project Scope Management Flashcards

1
Q

Product Scope

A
  • features and functions from the customer requirements
  • characteristics of customers’ deliverable
  • product scope is derived from Collect Requirements
  • Validate Scope is how Product Scope Confirmation is completed

Q

Inverted Triangle Model

A

Triple Constraints of Project Management
What is Fixed vs. Variable

    • Predictive - Scope is FIXED, Time & Cost can VARY
    • Adaptive/Agile - Time & Cost are FIXED, Scope can VARY

Q

Scope Management Plan

A
  • DOES NOT DEFINE PROJECT SCOPE
  • Defines how
  • ** to create project scope statement
  • ** to create WBS
  • ** scope baseline will be approved and maintained
  • ** formal acceptance of deliverables will happen

Q

Requirements Management Plan

A
  • how will requirement activities be
  • *planned
    • tracked
    • reported
  • define configuration management activities(features and functions)
  • define requirements prioritization process
  • outline metrics to be used (Requirements traceability matrix or RTM)

Q

Collecting Project Requirements

A
  • collaborate with Business Analyst
  • determine, document and manage requirements
  • Requirements help define the PRODUCT scope and project scope
  • Collection Requirements can be performed once or at a predefined point

Q

User Story

A

-make up the product backlog (list of requirements in agile)
-defines the Role, the Goal and the Motivation

Q

Types of Requirements

A

Business Requirements - higher-level needs of the organization

Stakeholder Requirements - needs of a stakeholder or stakeholder group

Solution Requirements - features, functions and characteristics of the product or service
1 - Functional requirements = describe behaviour of product
2 - Nonfunctional requirements = describe environmental conditions/qualities

Transition Requirements - from the current state to the future state

Project Requirements - actions, processes, or other conditions (forms, templates, etc.)

Q

16
Q

Create WBS

A
  • process of decomposing project scope
  • deliverables-orientated
  • NOT the activities list
  • acts as an input for many project planning tools
  • helps to visualizes the project and overall scope
  • defines what’s in scope
  • deterrent to scope change
17
Q

Scope Baseline

A
  • Project Scope Statement
  • WBS
  • WBS dictionary
18
Q

WBS Dictionary

A

glossary of all the work packages and defines what each of the work packages are

19
Q

Scope Validation

A

customer inspects the deliverables
FOCUS is on ACCEPTANCE

Formally Accepting the Project Work:

  • we want the customer to inspects and accept deliverables for phases and project
  • customer typically signs off of deliverables
  • Change Requests = possible output
20
Q

Quality Control

A

inspecting the deliverables
FOCUS is on CORRECTNESS and keeping mistakes out of the customers hands

happens before Scope Validation

21
Q

Control Project Scope

A

integrated change control related to scope

Scope changes trigger configuration management

Questions to ask when faced with Scope Changes:

  • are changed agreed upon?
  • has the change happened already?
  • how to manage the existing change?
  • how to incorporate approved changes?
  • what baselines are affected by the change?
