What is the TMJ and what kind of joint is it?
Temporomandibular Joint: a hinge (ginglymus) joint
Where is CSF housed?
Midbrain
Where is the pituitary gland located?
Sits in the sella turcica of the sphenoid bone.
Cerebrum
largest part of the brain, composed of right and left hemispheres
Number of cranial bones that enclose the brain
8 cranial bones:
(1) Frontal
(1) Sphenoid
(1) Ethmoid
(1) Occipital
(2) Parietals
(2) Temporals
Largest facial bone
Mandible
How many cranial nerves originate from the brainstem?
10 of the 12 cranial nerves. Nerves 3-12.
Cranial nerves 1 and 2 originate from cerebrum.
Which of the cranial bones articulates with all other cranial bones?
Sphenoid
Osmality
Number of particles in solution, per unit liquid as compared with blood
Viscosity
Resistance of a fluid to flow. Thickness or friction of fluid as it flows

-nasal conchae (2)
-vomer (1)
-mandible (1)
Positive and Negative agents
Positive: barium/iodine
Negative: Air/CO2
Chemotoxic reactions
results from the physiochemical properties of the CM, the dose, and the speed of injection
Idiosyncratic reactions
Mild: short duration and self-limiting.
-Difficulty breathing, light headache, pain at injection site
Moderate: not immediately life threatening, although they may progress to be so
-Feeling of warmth, hypertension, bradycardia
Severe: potentially or immediately life threatening
-Cardiac, respiratory arrest
