Multiple runways or a runway is longer than 8069 ft long
Military airport identification:
Name followed by: “MCAS”, “NAS”, “NAF”, “AFB”, “AAF”, etc.. OR a circle within a circle
joint-use military/civilian airport
Circle within a circle w/ tick marks. Large joint-use airports are depicted the same as civil airports
Abandoned airport
shown as a magenta circle with an X (if the runway is at least 3000ft and paved)
Lighting information
- above the airport symbol - indicates a rotating beacon
L - indicates that surface lighting is in operation from sunset to sunrise
*L - surface lighting limitations.
(ex: runway lights not automatically on overnight/ pilot controlled)
Communication services
C: CTAF frequency
*: indicates part-time tower operation
CT: control tower
U: unicom
Runway info:
- Length of the longest runway in hundreds of feet
- non-standard traffic pattern runways are preceded w/ RP
rotating beacon
-white and green: civilian
-two whites and green: military
-white, yellow, green: heliport
